Controls Engineer (Locomotion & Balance)

Key responsibilities

• Develop and tune whole-body, balance and locomotion controllers.
• Model the platform dynamics and validate against measured hardware behaviour.
• Close the loop between learned policies and classical control.
• Own controller performance, stability margins and failure behaviour.

Requirements

Robot control theory in practice - MPC, whole-body control, state estimation; strong dynamics; experience taking a controller from simulation onto real legged hardware.

Where you would work

The UK humanoid lab and assembly line: MOTHER EXO robotics design, build and test, coming online Q1 2027 and targeting 1,000 robots a year on a sovereign supply chain.

The Manchester factory comes online Q1 2027. Roles are recruited ahead of that date, with start dates agreed individually.
